Description
I designed these clips to originally connect 12" x 12" plexiglass cage panels for my wife's guinea pigs' cages--which we inherited when our daughters moved out. These clips are sized to accept both the wire 12" x 12" as well as the plexiglass panels or you can use in combination. These were replacement clips because the factory clips with the plexiglass panels were too tight and we had difficulty keeping the panels together. The material was also brittle, and it didn't take much to snap them especially over the wire panels--which we had to do in our cage design. We were constantly making repairs to the cage to fix clips that didn't “clip”. Thus, the quest for improvement began.
The clips on both build plates include two types.
Included are straight run clips both inside partition and outside mounting, 90-degree corners, a 4-way clip and Tee intersection clips. With these you can make any basic rectangular or square design cage.
Two build plates. One build plate has panel “spacing nubs” included--if you desire or need some gaping between the panels (see photos). The other build plate--the “spacing nubs” have been removed.
These are surprisingly strong clips. We've never have busted them or had a panel come undone from usage. The only time we've experienced breakage is when one of our 2-year-old granddaughters, snuck into the office, attempted to climb into the cage to pet them and broke a bottom clip by side loading the wire panel and caused a lower clip to break. The pigs and the granddaughter were all fine. I just fired up the X1C and printed a quick replacement and problem was solved.
