Description

I have developed a base for the FlashForge AD5X with an optional poop chute that dumps the poop into the left drawer. Right drawer is big enough to store most spares and tools used for the printer.

It it designed to be printed on with the AD5X or similar sized build size printers. Very little glue needed, very little supports required. Most parts just slot or clip together.

I recommend printing with PETG as I have. You only need 15% too. Put I would recommend you print the feet in TPU as this will also help with vibration and noise. Print the TPU with 20% infill.

Everything is modular, so you don't have to use the poop shoot.

The poop chute looks quite big and the poop drawer looks like it sticks out alot but they only stick out as much as a 1kg spool does when loaded in slot 3 or 4. So really it doesn't take any more foot space up, less if you was previously using a chute that swings around the side.

The poop drawer is approx 440x135x60mm and holds up to 3.5 litres of waste.

The 4 base sections are numbered. You'll find if you slot 1 and 2 together, then 3 and 4 together then the combined 1.2 and 3.4 together, it is easier.

If you don't want the poop chute then print x2 of the drawer rear sections on plate 6.

- Print the base sections with supports on. It will not need many.
- The drawers simply click together. A little glue might help but I didn't need any. Supports on, tree and auto and its only for the locating holes on the drawer fronts. it shouldn't put supports into the slots.
- For the poop drawer there is a drawer extension you use in-between the 2 drawer sections. Clicks together the same way but it is important that you do not use supports on the extension only, it will try to add them into the slots and they are a pain to remove. A brim is a good idea though.
- The poop shoot also just clicks together. I printed mine flat for strength on the screw holes, you need supports regardless because of the screw holes so regardless which way you print this, you have to remove supports from the slots, and they can be a pain to remove, go steady use a blade. Again the shoot pieces just slot together. There are two screws either side of the shoot opening behind the printer, use these screws through the holes in the model, to secure the shoot to the printer.

- I printed the drawer fronts and sides in a different colour. The drawer fronts do click in but I used some glue. The sides will need gluing regardless but they simply locate themselves when you push them into the section.
