Planetags Back Shell Custom Luggage ID Tag

This 3D-printed model is a protective back shell designed specifically for PlaneTags aircraft skin tags. It snaps onto the rear of an existing PlaneTag, adding both protection and functionality without altering the iconic front design.

The shell acts as a discreet luggage identification holder, allowing you to add personal contact information (name, email, phone number, or address), potentially while keeping it hidden from view during normal use. This helps identify your bag if it’s lost, while preserving the clean, collectible appearance of the PlaneTag itself.

Print it in a durable material (such as PETG or ASA) for best travel performance, and customize it in the slicer to add any text you wish..

Keyring Removal

Tag needs to be removed from the keyring, and potentially added back once the cover is installed. This is an annoying process but following the directions provided by PlanteTags to install their front protective sleeves makes it easier.

Tag variability

Each Planetag is unique, as such this model may not be the perfect fit for your tag, but it should fit most of the Planetags having a luggage tag print on their back. Use the attached openscad script and change the variables to get a better fit for yours, or simply use the scaling option of the slicer.

Another option, use the printer bed to heat up the tag in its shell and while soft gently mold it to fit your tag.

Included plates

Print profile includes the following 3 plates

• Shell only. No text fields of any sort, simply print to protect the back of your Tag. Great if you have your tag engraved, or labelled already.
• External text (profile and model pictures). Text is printed on the outside of the shell, and can easily be read as is. Great for quick luggage owner identification, but potentially bad for privacy. Best to display name and contact infos.
• Internal text. Text is printed on the inside of the shell so you would need to separate the Tag from the Shell to reveal it. Great for privacy, but then in case of a lost bag chances are that no one will look there for your contact infos. Printing with a translucent material mitigates this, text will be visible (but mirrored), making it difficult to read as is to protect your privacy but should be enough in case of a lost bag for someone to look inside.
• Not included, if using an opaque filament for the shell, you could add your contact infos on the inside, and add a "Contact infos inside" text on the outside of the shell.
