My general thoughts on 1-way full-range speakers:
Some of the biggest drawbacks with modern speaker designs relate to the challenge and complexity of the crossover design. With a full range driver and proper enclosure design, the full frequency range can be covered without the need for multiple driver components or any crossover at all, eliminating a lot of complex issues that naturally occur when trying to produce a flat frequency response from multiple driver components.
Another benefit to not requiring a crossover is a simpler and less expensive build. The end result is a speaker that performs on par with much more expensive alternatives.
I have been interested in the Dayton PS95 for quite a while now. I am very interested to see how it compares to similar models from Mark Audio.
I will add updates once I have a chance to do some comparative testing.
