Description
I have produced two new versions of my Rokinon/Samyang CineAF lens hood.
These models are designed with reversible bayonet mounts (one inside and one outside the hood) this allows the hood to be reversed on the lens and carried in storage position to save space during transport).
These new models are also designed to fit industry standard matte boxes. The large one is designed for an ARRI industry standard 114mm diameter, and the smaller one is designed for the 95mm compact or portable matte boxes.
Both of these models are split into 3 pieces for printing. To accomodate the dual bayonet mount, I had to split the rear flange into two and separate it from the bell. The flange pieces have four 1.85mm indexing holes on them to use 1.75mm filament pins to ensure alignment when gluing. The bell has an indexing ring that aligns into the flange for gluing.
I printed mine in ASA and as such used Acetone/ASA slurry glue to bond the pieces, however, you could use other printing filaments and CA Glue or other adhesives.
You can theoritically import this as one model consisting of multiple parts and print it as one single object with supports, but likely not in ASA (or at least not with any effective support, print, and cooling combination I could come up with.
The one area that will require supports is the bayonet "tabs" since these are rather precise and require smooth cleanly fitting surfaces to connect to the lens. Here are the settings I used in Orca Slicer on my Qidi X-Max 3 for ASA supports and cooling:
