Busy Board Mechanical Switch Clicker with 4 slots, designed for use on a toddler or kids’ busy board. It uses standard mechanical keyboard switches (MX-style or similar) to provide a satisfying click while staying securely fixed in place.
Mechanical switches are not included. They must be super glued into the base so small fingers cannot remove them. The keycaps must also be glued onto the switches so they cannot be pulled off.
The base includes:
- Four cut-outs for mechanical switches
- Matching positions for four keycaps
- Mounting screw holes so you can screw the base securely into a busy board
Once assembled and mounted, it becomes a compact, durable clicker panel for sensory play and fine motor practice.
Print profiles included:
- AMS version
- All parts on a single plate with numbered keycaps, or
- A second plate option with blank keycaps if you prefer no numbers.
- Non-AMS version
- Plate 1: Base only
- Plate 2: All keycaps in a single colour
Assembly:
- Print the base and keycaps.
- Test-fit your mechanical switches in the base.
- Remove the switches, apply super glue to the switch housing edges, and press them into the base cut-outs. Allow the glue to fully cure.
- Add a small amount of super glue inside each keycap stem, then press the keycaps onto the switches and let them cure fully.
- Use suitable screws to fix the base to your busy board through the mounting holes.
Safety notes:
- Ensure all switches and keycaps are firmly glued and fully cured before giving this to a child.
- Check regularly for any loose parts or screws and stop use if anything becomes loose or damaged.
