Description

Here I recreated the Giuseppe Meazza San Siro Stadium of Milan, home stadium for Inter Milan and AC Milan football clubs.

My goal (pun intended) was to create something that can be used rather than a simple miniature of the stadium, hence I made it on a round base and left a large opening on top that can allow easy access to use as a catchall tray. I do not have an architecture/design background so I just tried to replicate forms and shapes in Fusion360 from looking at pictures, trying my best to retain the key feature of the stadium.

I always loved the design of this stadium with its spiral staircase columns topped by an industrial looking cover. Even with its nearly 100 years I think it still looks very cool and while I understand the need for a modern home, I must admit to be a bit sad that the two teams are planning to leave it.

Printing notes:

  • It does not require an AMS and I sized as large as I could for my A1 mini.
  • It does not require any support, I just added a brim to the last plate as it tended to lift on the sides being very thin.
  • It takes 5 different plates to be printed for a total time of around 9 hours, with the longest print being plate 1, around 5 hours. If you have a larger printer I guess you may resize or reorganise the objects to fit differently.
  • Please ensure clean surface, I printed on my PEI plate recently washed and all plates printed well.

Building instructions:

The different pieces fit together quite tightly and require some care, the final result is quite rigid without any glue, which can however be used to make it completely fixed. I did not glue it so I can easily dismantle it for cleaning and fit upgrades. For instance, I am planning to create Inter Milan and AC Milan personalised bases with logos to make it a fan gadget.

Building steps:

  1. Fit the 4 little pillars from plate 2 in the holes on the top columns of the main body (plate1), the fit is quite tight so you might need a rubber hammer and gently hit on them. They should protrude for about 2 mm over the column.
  2. Carefully insert the 4 red beams (plate 4) into the ceiling (plate 2). Two of the beams have cuts to allow cross insert of the other beams, these go on the shorter side of the stadium ceiling. Be particularly careful when pushing these into the holes as they are quite fragile. Once in place you may insert the other two beams.
  3. Push the ceiling with beams into the pillars on top of the main body. Again the fit is tight and a little help with a rubber hammer might be needed.
  4. Fit the top frame on top of the stadium. There are little pillars coming up on the ceiling (plate2) sides to match the frame and secure it in place.
  5. Place the stadium on the base, it should snap into place and hold to it, and enjoy!
