Welcome to the Ultimate Parametric Tape Dispenser! Whether you need a heavy-duty dispenser for 3-inch packing tape or a sleek holder for your 1-inch roll of clear desk tape, this fully customizable OpenSCAD model has you covered.
Designed mathematically to print completely flat on its back, this monolithic (print-in-place) dispenser requires ZERO supports and is incredibly strong. It features a built-in central spindle, an integrated landing pad for the tape to adhere to between uses, and your choice of either sharp 3D-printed cutting teeth OR a slot for inserting a real metal snap-off blade for the ultimate clean cut.
🛠️ Customization Guide
This model is 100% parametric. Using OpenSCAD or the MakerWorld customizer, you can easily adjust:
- Tape Dimensions:
- tape_inner_diameter: Size of your tape's cardboard core (e.g., 25.4mm for desk tape, 76.5mm for packing tape).
- tape_outer_diameter: Maximum size of the full tape roll.
- tape_width: The width/thickness of the tape itself.
- Dispenser Settings:
- wall_thickness: Adjust the sturdiness of the shell.
- base_extension: Adjust how far the cutter sits from the main roll.
- landing_pad_length: Change the size of the flat area behind the teeth where the tape rests.
- Cutter Setup (Printed vs Metal):
- use_custom_blade: Check this to generate a precise slot for a real metal snap-off blade instead of printed teeth!
- blade_thickness, blade_depth, blade_exposed: Fine-tune the slot dimensions for your exact metal blade.
- Teeth Settings:
- tooth_pitch & tooth_height: Customize the density and sharpness of the printed cutting teeth.
🖨️ Printing Recommendations
- Orientation: Print flat on its back! The large flat side should be perfectly flush against your build plate.
- Supports: None! The geometry is fully optimized to print without any support structures.
- Material: PETG or PLA work perfectly. PETG offers a bit more flex which makes inserting the tape ring slightly easier, but PLA is excellent for sharp, durable printed teeth.
- Layer Height: 0.2mm is ideal. Use a lower layer height (like 0.12mm) for the printed teeth if you want an extra sharp cutting edge.
- Infill: 15-20% Gyroid.
Note: For the printed teeth version, just pull the tape down at a sharp angle!
