Description

This project features a heavy version of my original picatinny bipod design (https://makerworld.com/en/models/1670598-adjustable-picatinny-bipod-1-0#profileId-1768691).  It is a 5-position adjustable bipod meant for picatinny rails. You are able to rapidly deploy this bipod with just the push of a button.  The original design for my bipod got a lot of positive feedback and a few people requested a more durable version and this is what I ended up with. I redesigned just about every component in the assembly to be stronger and more resistant to wear while still being a decent size and profile on a handguard.

Design Features/Changes:

  • Overall Strength – Thickness of the body, legs, TPU pads, and cams increased.  The legs and body both got an increase in length and a redesign in shape
  • New cam design – Wraps around the base which adds strength and rigidity
  • Leg Rods – Added an extended version for the option of additional height
  • TPU pads – The pads have been redesigned to have full contact with the ground when the legs are deployed at 90 degrees.  This increases friction and gives better grip onto surfaces.  You must pay attention to orientation of the pad when you attach it to the leg.  Put the leg to 90 degrees and test fit the pad before gluing it to make sure you have it spun the right way
  • Body to Leg connection – The body has been modified where the M5 nuts sit for the leg fastener.  The M5 nut now slides into a slot to reduce the amount of “play” the M5 screw has. There is also a relief cut to get the nut out if needed, just use a small allen key.  I also strongly recommend using Loctite Thread Locker for this connection point

Parts Required:

  • 2 – M5x30 screw
  • 4 – M5x20 screw (2 of them MUST be socket head screws)
  • 6 – M5 Hex Nuts
  • 2 – M3x16 screw
  • 2 – M3 Hex Nuts
  • 2 – 0.7x7x15mm spring
  • Super Glue (For TPU pads)
  • Loctite Thread Locker (Use on both of the M5 nuts that attach to the M5x20 screws.  Do not put it on the other ones unless you don’t want to adjust your setup)

Note: You can get hardware kits and spring kits on amazon for very cheap, most of those kits will contain these required parts.  Also, there are some other spring lengths and diameters that will work for this design (i.e. 0.7x7x10mm or 0.8x8x15mm).
