Description

This model simulates a penetrating injury, where an object appears embedded in the arm. It’s designed as a visual training aid to help demonstrate proper first aid response—specifically the importance of not removing the object and stabilizing it instead.

Originally designed by a paramedic for real-world first aid training, this model is useful for safety education, workplace or farm training, and emergency awareness scenarios. It can also be used as a realistic prop for controlled demonstrations.

How to Use:

Place the model against the forearm (or have someone hold it in place) to simulate an object embedded in the arm. Use it to walk through proper first aid steps for a penetrating injury.

Training steps:

  • Do not remove the object – removing it can cause severe bleeding
  • Stabilize the object – prevent any movement
  • Apply pressure around the wound – not directly on the object

How to wrap/stabilize:

  • Place padding (gauze, cloth, or bandage rolls) on both sides of the object
  • Build up the padding so the object is supported and can’t shift
  • Wrap a bandage firmly around the arm and padding to hold everything in place
  • Ensure the object stays stable, but do not wrap so tight that circulation is cut off.

Simple to print and easy to understand at a glance—because sometimes the best learning tool is the one that makes you stop and think, “wait… what do I do here?”
