Description
Here is the dipstick for the iMakeStuff cartridge modification. With this, you have an easy way to quickly check your ink level. Print one for each cartridge. These are meant to slide down inside of the M8 heat insert. I purposely did not thread them as the frequent removal could cause slivers of the part to end up in the cartridge. I also put a seal inside of the void in the handle section as a break in case the ink were to travel and to help with sealing it as it sits on the cartridge. The bump on the shaft of the dipstick should serve as the roughly half point of the cartridge, I simply refill once it gets below the bump.
I do not recommend PLA for these, PLA can degrade fairly quickly and that may be detrimental to the ink. PETG, ASA or Nylon (PA) is recommended. These shafts are fairly thin, please use caution when inserting and removing to avoid breakage.
I have noticed no problems with not having the system ultra sealed. These rest on top of the M8 insert but do not thread on.
Please see the attached video where I show the dipstick and, in the description, will be the link to the seals I used.
