Description
Project Name
Parkside Battery Powered LED Softbox (1/4" Tripod Mount)
Description
This is a compact, fully 3D printable LED softbox designed to run from a Parkside battery. It’s intended for portable lighting setups such as photography, video work, or general workshop use.
The design includes an integrated Parkside battery mount, a standard 1/4"-20 tripod thread, and a removable front diffuser panel. The LED strip is mounted inside the housing and the whole unit is built to be simple and easy to assemble.
The goal was to create a straightforward, low-cost and portable light that can be printed and put together without special tools.
Features
Powered by Parkside 18V battery system
Works with 12V or 24V LED strips
Standard 1/4"-20 tripod mount
Fully 3D printable enclosure
Simple assembly with M4 hardware
Replaceable diffuser panel
Diffuser panel (I used a diffuser from an old LED monitor in the photos, but other materials can be used)
Tripod mount adapter
Hardware
4 × M4 nuts (inserted into the housing)
4 × M4x20 countersunk screws (for the Parkside battery mount)
Electronics
Option 1 – 24V LED strip
If you use a 24V LED strip, a boost converter is required.
Recommended type:
XL6009 DC-DC boost converter (commonly available on AliExpress)
Option 2 – 12V LED strip
If you use a 12V LED strip, a buck converter is required.
Recommended type:
LM2596 DC-DC buck converter (widely available and reliable)
Wiring
Parkside Battery (+/-)
→ DC-DC Converter (boost or buck depending on LED type)
→ LED Strip
It is recommended to place a switch on the positive line.
Before connecting the LED, adjust the converter output to the correct voltage (12V or 24V).
Design Notes
Nut traps are built in for easier assembly.
The front panel can be removed if you want to change the diffuser.
LED strips can be mounted directly inside the box.
Battery Adapter
The Parkside battery adapter used in this project was downloaded from an external source.

Notes
!!Do not connect LED strips directly to the battery without proper voltage regulation.
If you use higher power LEDs, consider ventilation or using a more heat-resistant material.!!
