Description
Today, I created a remix of the WORBY system (original by Scott Yu-Jan). The original design relies heavily on supports to achieve strength, so I rethought the geometry to better match the manufacturing process of FDM printing.
This version prints in two parts, requires no supports, and is optimised so that the layer orientation naturally provides strength where it’s needed most. The parts friction-fit together, so no glue is required — just print, assemble, and use.
The result is a clean, strong hook that respects both the original design intent and the realities of 3D printing. A small but important principle in this design: good designs should be optimised for how they are made — not rely on workarounds like supports.
Another focused step in my Everydays Challenge, improving existing designs through smarter manufacturing thinking.
