Description
I would like to present my own 3D model design — the Ukrainian cargo aircraft Antonov An-124 Ruslan. This model is made in 1:100 scale.
The main feature of this model is its hollow interior structure and the opening front cargo door, just like on the real aircraft. During the design process, I used reference photos of the real plane and blueprints available online, so I tried to make it as realistic as possible within the limits of my experience. Please do not judge too harshly if there are some minor inaccuracies or differences from the original aircraft.
I would also like to mention that despite the fairly large size of the model (approximately 68 cm long, 72 cm wide, and 21 cm tall), it can still be printed even on a basic 3D printer like the Bambu Lab A1 Mini. The aircraft fuselage includes colored insert parts that are printed separately without the use of AMS, which makes this model stand out from other similar projects.
My goal was to create a highly detailed yet easy-to-print model that any 3D printer owner could make.
Small printing recommendations:
This model requires quite a lot of white filament. I recommend using two completely identical spools of filament to avoid slight differences in shade or brightness (otherwise the result may look like it does in my photos). Regarding filament type, there is no major difference between PLA and PETG, so either material can be used — the important thing is that parts of the same color are printed using the same material.
I printed the larger parts at 124% speed (Sport mode), but I recommend printing smaller details at normal speed. As for tools, I suggest having pliers, tweezers, and of course glue. I also recommend removing all supports and hinges carefully, especially around small holes. It is also best to assemble the model in the same order shown in the instructions.
Overall, I want to say that designing this model took me a lot of time. I tried to fix every issue I could find, but due to the size and complexity of the project, I may still have missed something. If you encounter any problems, please write about them in the comments — I will try to fix them as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your attention, and happy printing :)
