Description

Slicy — a functional minimalist object with a constructor’s soul.

It is a parametric modular container that invites you to participate at two distinct stages: first in configuration, then in assembly.

The structure itself is a lightweight open cylindrical form built from stacked rings and vertical connectors. Depending on its proportions and your own imagination, Slicy can become a desk organizer, cup holder, phone stand, tray, vase, or something else entirely.

The model consists of:

  • base
  • side rings
  • vertical connectors
  • top ring (slightly thicker and without through-holes)

The modular structure brings two practical advantages: the complex geometry prints entirely without supports, while rings and connectors can be freely combined across different colors and materials — allowing for a wide range of visual combinations within a single object.

Before printing, you can define your own version by adjusting parameters such as inner diameter, ring width, connector count per level, and connector height. Different parameter combinations can lead to surprisingly different structures.

After printing, the parts assemble without glue or additional hardware. The joints are intentionally tight for a secure friction fit — assembly may require a bit of force, but compatibility across tested parameter combinations has been verified on matte PLA.

Slicy also acts as a foundation for future experiments with irregular and organic forms.

A small hint for experimenters: even now, you can already move beyond strict cylindrical shapes by combining rings with different outer diameters while keeping the same inner diameter.
