Description
I kept needing rods longer than my print bed, so I made one that splits itself up. Open the Customizer, set the total length you want, hit Generate - it works out how many segments you need and lays them out on the plate, ready to print. Screw them together afterwards.
Three versions in this listing:
Either way it works out the segment count and individual lengths for you - no CAD, no slicing math. It now hits your exact target length rather than rounding to the nearest whole segment.
Heads-up on strength: printed upright, the rod holds up well in compression but is weaker in bending (layer lines run across that load). Ideal for rolling/storing fabric, light hanging, props - not for structural loads.
Screw the segments together. Dry-fit if you want to re-adjust or reuse the length later. A drop of glue on the threads makes the joint permanent and noticeably stiffer - your call: dry = adjustable, glue = solid.
I made it to roll a tablecloth without creasing it, but it's just a clean rod in whatever length your bed won't give you on its own - curtain rod, banner pole, dowel, take your pick. Don't hurt people with it.
Changelog
2026-06-08: Fixed length generation so it produces your exact total length (no more rounding to the nearest segment). Added a Stick Advanced version exposing stick diameter, end cap length and end cap extra diameter, alongside the original length-only Stick Simple.
2026-06-10: Added a Thin Stick Advanced version which is the same as Stick Advanced but allows to go down to a diameter of 20mm for the stick.
