RACKCEPTION — 10"-to-19" Hybrid KWS Rack V2 Mod
Ever wanted the compact flexibility of a 10" homelab rack, but you've also got gear that only fits a full 19" rack? Now you can have both. This is a remix of the excellent KWS Rack V2 that bolts on 19" mounting capability — so your 19" rack can swallow 9U's worth of 10" rack equipment.
A rack, in a rack. RACKCEPTION.
What's new in this remix
This build reuses the core KWS Rack V2 frame and adds new parts to bridge the 10"→19" gap:
- Modified top brackets / rack ears — new front-top connectors with a rear lip that lets the frame accept standard 19" rackmount hardware.
- Reinforced bottom half — a single printed half (mirror it for a matching pair) that merges both side-bottom connectors into one flange across the rack and bolts together at the center seam with M6 hardware. It slots over the rack-ear lip for a rigid, rattle-free base.
- 1U PSU shelf (linked below) — a honeycomb-vented 1U 19" faceplate and shelf that mounts and straps a power supply.
Print settings
- Material: PETG or ABS for the structural parts, PLA tends to creep under sustained load.
- Tested on: Bambu Lab P1S (256 × 256 × 256 mm).
- Heads up: the 1U PSU faceplate is ~262 mm wide (full 19" face), and must be printed diagonally.
Hardware
- M6 bolts/nuts for the rack legs and the center seam on the reinforced bottom half.
- M5x10mm for the rack inserts
