Description
BOOBY-TRAP Bookcase Edition aka OH SNAP! Is a classic game of the 60's featuring a BOARD with a SPRING BAR pulled back with dozens of SMALL CIRCULAR PIECES held under the pressure of the spring bar.
Play consists of removing pieces from within the spring bar "trap" in hopes of not making it move. Different sized pieces removed are worth points each. Point penalties are incurred if the bar moves or pieces snap out. The player who has accumulated the most points at the end of the game is the winner.
GAME COMPONENTS
The BOOBY-TRAP Bookcase Edition set includes:
12 Red pieces worth 3 points each
12 Blue pieces worth 2 points each
12 Yellow pieces worth 1 point each
1 Board and Board End Cap
1 Pull Spring Bar Assembly
1 Bookcase Edition Box
BOOKCASE EDITION BOX
The BOOBY-TRAP Bookcase Edition game also includes a Bookcase Edition Box with a slide top. This bookcase edition box can be stored on a shelf with your other matching bookcase edition games. The box includes storage areas for the all the game tiles.
To store the parts, first gentle release the pressure of the spring bar by retracting the bar into the game board. Then add the playing pieces to the board behind the spring bar. Place the board in the box. Place any spare parts also in the box. Slide the box lid onto the box. A small drop of printer oil on the edges of the box lid will help with the slide into the box top.
INFORMATION, PARTS & ASSEMBLY
All parts were printed with PLA filament, matt or flat colored PLA filaments work best for bookcase edition games. I use a textured plate for adhesion. Some parts will need to be superglued. The book spine is glued to the square cornered side of the bookcase box.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I've turned off the prime tower in order to upload the model but turning it on (if it will fit on your plate) will help the quality of your prints.
Pull Bar Assembly
The Pull Bar requires 6 springs from the Bambu Store: 2 packs of 0.6x8x80mm Helical Compression Springs (Part BB019).
STEP 1: Print the Pull Bar Assembly parts. Gently sand off any rough edges on the round pull bars.
STEP 2: Test thread the 3 pull bar posts together and thread into the bar, do not overtighten. Once satisfied, unthread all. Glue on the triangular support to the bar and re-thread two pull bars (2 and 3) onto the bar with a drop of superglue at each thread. However, do not connect or glue on pull bar 1. Refer to the pictures for alignment.
STEP 3: Add 3 springs to each of the two spring rods and insert the spring rod (knob first) into each slot of the board until the knob end rests into the small hole.
STEP 4: Insert the Pull Bar Assembly into the end of the board while lining up the springs and spring rods with the holes in the pull bar.
STEP 5: Insert pull bar 1 into the small hole on the end of the board and thread onto the pull bar assembly.
STEP 6: Line up the board cap with the spring rods and with a slight downward rotation, inset the board cap onto the board.
NOTE: I recommend that you print two sets of the Pull Bar Assembly and store one extra set unassembled in the box as spare parts. This part will be under stress and may get damaged over time.
