Description

I wanted this sailboat to have a simple, relaxed coastal feel, with flowing shapes inspired by driftwood and wind-filled sails. It makes a nice coastal decorative piece for a shelf, table, desk, or windowsill.

Current size

Height: ~13 cm (5.1")

Length: ~14 cm (5.5")

Printing

  • Use a clean print plate with some glue (unless you are using a super tack plate)
  • Use dried out filament
    • (Different filament types impact the print differently, please adjust your settings accordingly.)

Support Removal:

  1. Let the model cool down before removing the supports.
  2. Use pliers when removing the supports.
  3. Start with breaking the support in the middle  by “crushing” them by using a plier. This helps loosen the structure before removing the supports.
  4. Move to the top and work your way downward.
  5.  Remove the supports in small pieces.

Light sanding and gentle, controlled heat may be needed to clean up areas where the supports were attached on the backside. I used a handheld mini torch, but apply heat carefully to avoid warping or damaging the print.
