All Linked 2‑Line Customizable Name Plate Generator
This is a fully parametric two‑line name plate generator built from the script you provided and matched to the uploaded model. It produces clean, linked lettering with unified background layers, an optional underline capsule, and optional vertical support sticks for cake‑topper or display use. The generator is optimized for easy customization, multi‑color layering, and reliable printability.
This model prints without supports, all geometry is designed to be support‑free. Ironing is recommended on the top text layer to achieve a smooth, premium finish.
🔧What this model does
Generates two independent text lines with linked/connected letterforms and automatic background expansions.
Produces background layers (thick offset shapes) behind each line so the text reads strongly at a distance.
Optionally adds an underline capsule sized automatically from the combined text bounds.
Optionally adds vertical support sticks (legs) with rounded bottoms for insertion or display.
Exports as layered geometry so each color layer can be separated for AMS or manual filament swaps.
🛠️What you can customize
Line 1 and Line 2 text (any word, name, or phrase).
Fonts for each line (script, display, serif, etc.).
Letter heights and XY scaling for precise visual balance.
Inter‑letter spacing and line spacing to tune how the two lines link.
Background depth and background padding (background_font_thickness / offset).
Underline: enable/disable, thickness, gap, extra length, X offset, and background depth.
Support sticks: enable/disable, stick length, thickness, spacing, and background padding.
Colors for each element: line 1, line 2, underline, and unified background color.
🧱Parametric structure and behavior
Text is rendered as 2D outlines, offset for borders, then linear_extrude is used to create stacked layers.
The generator auto‑calculates combined bounds for both lines to size the underline and align background shapes.
Support sticks are generated with a flat top and rounded bottom using hull logic for smooth, printable legs.
All translations and scales are computed from textmetrics so the model remains centered and stable at any size.
🖨️Printing tips
Support‑free: geometry is designed to print cleanly without supports.
Ironing recommended: apply ironing on the top text layer to remove minor surface artifacts and produce a glossy, premium finish.
Infill: 10–15% Gyroid or Cubic for lightweight strength.
Walls: 2–3 perimeters for crisp edges. Increase to 3–4 if the sticks or thin features need extra rigidity.
Layer height: 0.12–0.24 mm for best balance of detail and speed.
Manual swap: pause at the background depth or base height to change filament cleanly.
Stick safety: if using as a cake topper, round the stick bottoms and test insertion depth before serving.
🎨 Color Swap (Manual Multicolor)
If you don’t have an AMS, this model prints perfectly with manual filament swaps. Add pauses at every layer where a color layer ends. Each time the printer pauses, change filament and resume printing for clean, sharp transitions.
🧩 Font Preview Guidance:
MakerWorld currently does not provide a built‑in visual catalog of its available fonts. A reliable way to preview styles is through Google Fonts, where most typefaces closely match those offered in MakerWorld. Browsing there allows you to quickly compare letterforms, weights, and spacing, making it easy to identify a visually similar font for your customization.
