40mm Side Fed Fan Cover - Fan Blades Protected

Summary

This is a 40mm fan cover that is primary fed air via side channels. This prevents an allen key, filament, screw driver, etc. from breaking fan blades by slipping through front facing fan grills. The openings that are in the front only expose the fan hub, not the blades.

I was using a front fed design that was also tool-safe (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2600398) but the air flow through the fins was making the fan much noisier than usual. This design has wider channels side channels and keeps things quiet.

The cutouts on the front are 0.3mm deep so a first layer matching that depth will give you the best results.
