Description
This is my version of a printable Soprano Ukulele, it sounds good if you assemble it right. Its made out of pla and the part are mostly oriented to be consistent with the corresponding wooden parts of a traditional ukulele. The most important part is to print the top with the less amount material is possible. I use 4 loops 3 top and bottom layers and 15 % grid infill. For me it works well but you can try different combination of settings. For the other parts use 3 walls and a good amount of infill like 20% and 4 o 5 top and bottom layers (it s not very important to the sound, better to have a solid and good looking part).
The hardware you need is:
-4 tuners (you can replace the cap like mine)
-m5 nut
-m5 bolt with countersank head.
Assembly:
use epoxy 2 parts glue to glue the top to the body, use tape to cover the edges and avoid dripping. Put pressure on it with some weignt over the top, not to much to prevent deformation (it become stiffer after the glue dryes).
Use the saddle to lock the bridge in place, i use superglue to glue the bridge with the top and some tape to avoid mistakes. If you do it right without using to much glue you will be able to remove the saddle from bridge (it doesn t need to be glued in place).
Glue the neck to the headstock, use epoxy or superglue, it doesn t make any difference. after put the M5 nut in place and use glue (i recomand you to use epoxy) to glue the fretboard with the neck. Use the pins to find the right location and put attention to not dirty the nut with glue. Now glue the nut/string retainer in place. Bolt the neck to the body. Put strings on it (for Soprano Ukulele).
Have fan.
PS: for my printer tollerance are just fine and evry piece just snap in place, maybe you need to do a little of sanding on the edge of the top or redrill the holes ond the fretboard with your drill. It si better if you cut a little notch on the saddle for evry string with a little file, make sure the 4 noctches are equally spaced. Do some test first, if something goes wrong remove the saddle and print another one!
