3D Printable Low Bypass Turbofan

The long-awaited follow up to the original 3D Printable Jet Engine is finally here! This all-new model includes improvements and lessons learned from the previous design making it more user friendly to assemble. The entire engine is designed from scratch based on similar existing low bypass turbofan designs. It was designed for educational and aesthetic appeal, so it will upgrade the look of wherever it is displayed. For simplicity, it uses the same ball bearings and fasteners as the original 3D Printable Jet Engine so you can use the same Jet Engine Model Components Kit - 006. I have also included a detailed step-by-step build instructions PDF in the Documentation section. Again, since this is a brand new design, some room for further improvement may exist; please feel free to make suggestions in the comments or in a direct message. There is a motorized version in the works as well using components from Maker's Supply, so stay tuned for that! If you feel strongly one way or another if the motorized version should be USB powered or battery powered, let me know in the comments.

All parts except for the display stand should be printable on the A1 mini. I've uploaded another print profile that uses Support for PLA for the support interfaces which results in better quality overhangs. If you are having issues with adhesion to the build plate on the fan stages, I've personally had the best luck with the Cool Plate. Also, I've had better quality results on the thin fan/compressor blades if I disabled Wipe (see picture above for the filament setting override).

The required fasteners (screws, washers, and nuts) and ball bearings are listed below. However, to make your life easier, there is an official hardware kit that includes these components in the Bill of Materials section below.

• Metric machine screw, allen socket cap, 2.5mm x 0.45mm x 10mm (QTY 70)
• Metric flat washer, 2.5mm (QTY 118)
• Metric hex nut, 2.5mm x 0.45mm (QTY 70)
• 6204 open ball bearing 20x47x14 (QTY 2)
• 6003 open ball bearing 17x35x10 (QTY 2)

The jet engine will look great in any filament, but what I recommend (and what is pictured) are listed in the Bill of Materials section below.
