Description
These 3-way and 4-way connectors are designed for a modular PVC filament shelf system built with ¾" PVC pipes. While other connector models I tried worked perfectly fine, I wanted a design with a smaller footprint, that used less filament, and took less time to print.
The orientation of these connectors on the build plate is unusual, but important! Once assembled, the layer lines will be oblique to the loads placed on the printed parts. This makes them less likely to shear at the layer lines when loaded or inserting the PVC.
I designed these to print with a 0.8mm nozzle, which drastically reduces the print time and uses less filament. However, they don't look as nice. I have included a profile for printing with a 0.4mm nozzle if the looks matter to you.
Consider printing a single connector first to ensure you don't have problems with the fitment of the PVC available to you. These were designed to snuggly fit ¾" PVC with an external diameter of 1.05". You may need to scale the models up or down slightly for a better fit.
For a 4 shelf high solution like in the picture you will need the following cuts of PVC pipe.
| Size | Qty | Notes |
| 3" (76mm) | 8 | Width of the shelf. You will need 2 for every level. |
| 8" (203mm) | 12 | Height between shelves. You will need 4 for every level after the first |
| ?? | 8 | Your preference for length of shelves. I recommend multiples of 2 ¾" (70mm) for the best fit of Bambu Lab spools. You 2 will need 2 for every level. |
