Description
I created this design to teach about moment equilibrium.
It physically shows what happens when the moment is unequal on both sides.
It is a great tool for teaching multiplication to children and engineering thinking to teenagers.
For the print profile for non-AMS users, I highly recommend using a black marker to increase visibility in the numbers.
This is what I have done for mine :)
I will upload some problems with answers that you can use, below is an example of an answer to a problem.
I will also make them of varying difficulty allowing for gradual teaching.
I'm not home currently so will do this as soon as possible :)
To calculate the moment use this formula: Moment = Distance * Weight
Example:
Left side: Moment = 8*2 = 16
Right side: Moment = 6*3 = 18
Right has a higher moment resulting in that side being lower.
Here moment equilibrium is not met resulting in the scale not being horizontal.
