Desiccant Tray - Filament and Desiccant Drying

Details

The Desiccant Tray uses a simple design with 1.1mm radius perforated holes on the top and base. The sides include two rows of 1mm radius holes for additional venting. The center of the tray includes a convenient gripping handle which doubles as a guide for the top cover.

 

Can be used with or without Tray lid.

Tray fits within Spool holder to dry filaments, or alternatively use tray to dry desiccant in dryer, food dehydrator or on 3D Printer heated bed.

 

Filament Drying

The Combined Spool Holder and Desiccant Tray can be used to dry Filament, whether passively in an airtight container or even actively in a filament dryer.

 

For example, it can be used inside the SOVOL SH01 Filament Dryer. The combination fits snugly within the dryer. The tray can also be used to dry desiccant!

 

 

Desiccant Drying

The Desiccant Tray can also be used to dry the desiccant inside.

 

For example, the tray can fit in most Food Dehydrators, or even on a 3D Printer's heated bed.

 

 

 

⚠	When drying using Desiccant Tray, DO NOT exceed heat limits of chosen material: PETG ≤ 65c, ABS ≤ 80c & ASA ≤ 90c.   Different filament vendors have different temperature tolerances for their materials, so double check before setting drying temperatures.

 

Expansion

This Desiccant Tray uses the Expanda Modular System. This system allows 3D Printed designs to be extended almost infinitely. It features four dovetail joints on either side to lock in expansions and allows for flexible modularity.

 

The Desiccant Tray can be expanded with additional Desiccant Trays to form a chain or placed inside a Spool Holder in a chain. For example, 2 standard Spool Holders with a Desiccant Tray in each can be combined to fit within an airtight storage container such as the Ezy Storage 4.7Gal / 19Qt / 18L Water-proof storage box.

 

 

 

 

Print Settings

Recommended printing in PETG, ABS or ASA if intending to use the Desiccant Tray in a Filament Dryer, Food Dehydrator or Oven.

 

Print profile enables Adaptive Layer height to speed up print times and smooth out layer lines and includes both tray base and top cover. Delete top cover from project if only printing tray.
