Description
A replica of the Meinl Artist Series Studio Shaker, Designed by Luis Conte. I didn't want to spend $30 on one, so I made it myself.
The shaker is designed in two identical halves.
Put some super glue inside the groove on each half of the shaker, and stick the two halves together
What you fill your shaker with will drastically change the sound you get out of it. Depending on the tone you want, the material you choose will differ greatly.
The halves fit tight enough together to experiment with the sound and see what you like before committing to one
Soft sound: Small beads or grains like rice, (dried) lentils, and couscous create a softer and smoother sound
Harder, louder sound: Larger, more dense fillings such as (dried) beans, corn kernels or even small pebbles will produce a louder, more pronounced sound.
You can also mix and match to find a tone that works for you.
