Clapper board / Film Slate

This design was a small project to create a customised clapperboard / slate that had a solid feel and more professional look on set compared to the cheap amazon / ebay clapper boards for under $100.

I also added a few touches to it like a 1/4 20 heat inset for securely attaching a d-bolt to hang the clapper. An optional 'main board' with a cutout to store alpha-numeric badges via velcro.

The clapperboard features a magnet in the top sticks that give that great snap feel!

I suggest printing the sticks in 25% infill or more to make them heavier to ‘snap' or ‘clap’ more distinctive. 

You can also get creative and add a production logo to the design in your slicer from an SVG file quite easily as seen in the images.

This clapper features a magnet in the top and bottom sticks to give you that nice sound / feel when marking.

You will need the following materials to complete the clapper board:

• Whiteboard marker film 
• (8) x M3 x 8-12mm bolts (Faceplate)
• (3) x M5 x 25-30mm bolt (Hinge) with nuts / washers
• (1) x 12mm long 1/4 20 thread heat inset (Optional)
• (2) 8mm x 3mm round magnets for sticks
• (3) M3 x 25-30mm bolts (Bottom stick attach to main board)
• Plastic glue for sticks patterned plate (Optional)
• 50cm of white velcro for the badges to stick too (Optional if you want to combine / don't want whiteboard adhesive film)
