Description
I really love the look of the realistic octopus head by Stanos, but I wanted the nice articulated arms like those from McGybeer's octopus. While looking around, I realized I could combine everything and even add longer arms. Since I like to put magnets in everything, I cut a hole with PrusaSlicer in the tip of each arm and in the center below the head. I had to put some positive modifiers in the center to give the magnet some surface to be glued to.
If you don't care about the magnets, use the *.stl file. If you want the holes for the magnets, import the *.3mf file and choose Import 3D models only. Unfortunately, PrusaSlicer didn't allow me to export the modifiers to the stl file. The upside is that you can easily adapt the size of the holes in PrusaSlicer if needed.
I used eight 3x2mm magnets for the arms. The big magnet in the center was advertised as 30x4mm, but my caliper measured it at 29.5x3.8mm. For my printer setup, I always need about 0.4-0.6mm larger diameter for holes than the object I want to insert. It might be a good idea to do a test print of only a small part with the hole to find out what's right for you.
I printed without supports and no infill with 0.2mm layer height.
Thank you all for your great work McGybeer, Stanos, BamBam Design, and Роман Васильченко!
