Description
This is a collection of ThunderB assets for use with airsoft and paintball games. Some of it I helped design. Some of it is from other creators in the community (Shout out to RainbowStrikes & Others for allowing public domain usage of this stuff). I'll be keeping that tradition alive!
I saw the creators original post and just had to try it out (ThunderB_RainbowStrikes in yellow). There was also another user (Sorry I don't remember your name) that made a shell that looked like a fragmentation grenade (ThunderB_Frag in green). It was a really fun print however I noticed that design had some issues. Firstly, it took a long time to print 6-8 hours depending on settings. I wanted something much quicker than that. So I made a thin wall version (ThunderB_ThinWall in red). Secondly, the shell would tend to burst at the thread line making the ThunderB unit unusable until it could be disassembled and fixed. This happened to me on three separate occasions with both the original and thin wall units. I got so frustrated I decided I wanted an “idiot proof” version of the ThunderB that couldn't get threads stuck. This led me to the idea of a “burst disk” design with an intended failure point. That led to the creation of the blue shell and orange burst disk design.
Just some basic safety things. I'm not a lawyer. ThunderB's are fun but they can also be dangerous. I do not reccomend printing with anything brittle such as PETG or ABS as those can shatter and cause real harm. I print the standalone shells at 20-30% infil out of PLA or TPU. The modified shell for use with burst disks is designed to be printed at 50-75% triangular infil with TPU. The burst disks should be printed with PLA or PLA+ at 10-20% infil. PETG and ABS will work HOWEVER that increases the risk to safety and should be avoided if possible during live play. When used properly you can clear buildings like the terminator, perform drone drops like a Ukranianan, or even trick your meth head neighbors into thinking it's World War 3.
My local field allows these since they all know me there and know I print relatively safe items. Your results may vary.
Remember, we play airsoft and milsim games to get outside and have fun. Don't be that a**hole that tries to make an actual weapon out of this. The feds are always watching O.O
