Robot Hero v1.5 6 inch Action Figure

UPDATE 11/5/24: Apologies, but it after reviewing the original model once more I realized the shoulder ballsockets on the torso were the wrong size leading to loose shoulders that stuck out too far. I have fixed this.

So there isn't any lore attached to this figure, he has a sword and his hand can be replaced with a Tesla coil thing.

This character has been in my mind since around 1st grade (the included drawing is the oldest one I could find, about 2009, I think it may have been the first but not sure). I have been doodling this character for years but never figured out a name for him or any real backstory.

When I first got into 3D printing 4 years ago, one of my goals was to eventually take my character and make him into a figure. After all the mechs I now felt confident enough to bring my character into the physical world in 6 inch scale (my personal favorite scale). Whether or not I succeeded is up to you, but I feel like this is at least a good start.

My biggest current disappointment with this figure's 1.0 version was the fact I couldn't figure out a good way to make the bottoms of the shoulders and thighs more rounded like the forearms and shins while maintaining consistent printing. Not much later, I decided to put together a new system for the elbows and knees to allow for a "cap" of sorts that rounds out the limbs a little more. Still not perfect, but a lot better than before in my opinion. From this, I hope to make some more figures with less robotic aspects.

In the files I included 2 different head antennae designs and two different bodies.

The Robot Hero figure was designed with a focus on simplicity, durability, and ease of printing.

Joints are achieved through a system of 3mm pins that give just enough friction while also easily removed with pliers (for maximum strength, print these so that the long side of the pin is parallel to the build plate).

Depending on your printer and plastic, some light sanding and/or tightening of parts may be required. Tightening may be done via thin layers of super glue or multi-surface floor polish.
