Description
Part 2 of the SPIES puzzle series from designer Alfons Eyckmans, who has kindly given permission to provide this model. Named SPIES #4, I consider it the easiest of the 6-puzzle SPIES series.
You can build SPIES #4 from the STL files below. I used PLA, 0.3 layer height, 3 perimeters for all parts. You can build at a 0.2 layer height for increased quality.
The goal is to assemble the parts into the shape shown in the pictures.
This puzzle requires 14 moves to free the first part (during disassembly) or about 25 moves to put all the pieces in their correct position.
There are NO ROTATIONS allowed, if you wish to discover the intended solution. That is, all parts will shift up/down, left/right or backwards/forwards. If you attempt to manipulate the puzzle while holding in an upright position, you may find that the pieces (orange in the picture) may rotate due to gravity. There may be non-intended solutions if you rotate parts. I often work on these puzzles on a table top to prevent unwanted rotations.
If you wish to print the main plate in 2 colours, to highlight the text, I used a manual color change at layers (0.3layer height) : 4 (1.1mm), 7 (2.00mm), 55 (16.40mm) and 58 (17.30mm). I've also included the 2-color 3mf plate file for my MK3S+.
The video below introduces this puzzle and provides some hints.
