Description
Six pieces, all different, assemble into the second stellation of the regular dodecahedron, also known as the “Great Dodecahedron”. David Bruce invented the original version in 1997. His version is the wood puzzle shown in the photos (made by Wayne Daniel).
3D printing the wood version would be difficult as most pieces require supports. I redesigned the puzzle so that all pieces can be printed without supports. All six pieces are different compared to the wood version.
One problem with this puzzle is that the pieces contain many sharp points, it is conceivable you could injure yourself when taking it apart. I therefore include two versions of this puzzle: a Normal version with sharp points (blue in the photos), and a Clipped version with points trimmed off (green). The target shape looks a bit different with the clipped version. The piece offset used was 0.05 mm. The puzzle is the same size as the wood version (diameter 6.5 cm).
