The Umbrella (from Fortnite)

Hey Looper! Finally got that very first Victory Royale? Congratulations! Here, have an umbrella.

Yes, this is a 3D printable model of The Umbrella from Fortnite. You get this umbrella for your first epic victory. And now you can flex with your umbrella even in real life! Print it out, put it on your desk and celebrate! And of course the canopy can rotate.

This is a quite detailed model and printing it has some challenges. You need a quality brand, calibrated and dry filament in different colours. A multi material system like MMU or AMS is recommended to add more coloured details to your print.
 

Print preparation:
Make sure that your print bed is clean and grease-free and use quality brand filaments. If necessary prepare the print bed with glue.
 

Print settings:
Handle:
Print it slowly. The print will stat to wiggle at around 100mm height. So you need to stabilize it. Add a manual, vertical support on the side of the handle for the top 30mm:

Decrease the accelerations to further reduce vibrations. A brim is absolutely necessary.
A fully coloured handle will take some significant print time. You can print it in one colour if you are in a hurry.

There is an option B for those who still have troubles with printing the handle. In the STL file-section you can find a two-piece version of the handle. This does not need support but you must colour it yourself in the slicer.

Top Cover, Bearing Dummy, Top Plate and Knobs:
These are easy. Choose standard print settings, add support for the knobs. I recommend a layer height of 0.1mm to get nice details prints.

Umbrella Segments:
The print itself it easy but it will take time because of the colour-changes. You can print it in one colour but you will loose the special look.
A brim is necessary.

Stand:
Simple print, just use standard 0.2mm settings.

Plates:
Multicolour print with standard 0.2mm settings.

Assembly:

• Press the bearing dummy into the top plate. Instead of the dummy you can use a real ball bearing, e.g. MR106ZZ (Ø10xØ6x3mm).
  It is a press-fit, you need to push hard.
  
   
• Put the non-slotted end of the bearing shaft into the bearing.
  
   
• Press the top cover on the non-slotted end of the bearing shaft.
  
  It is a tight press-fit, you really need to push very hard. Then it should look like this:
  
   
• Now install the ten segments to the assembled top plate. Just push then into the slots. Use glue if necessary.
  
   
• The two knobs go into the holes on the top of the handle. They need to be glued.
  
   
• The final assembly step: Press the slotted end of the umbrella bearing shaft into the hole in the handle.

Remarks:

• This is fanart.
• It is a display model, not a toy. If you play too hard with it, it will break.
• The model is not a game rip. I designed it from the scratch according to screenshots I made in the game.
• The shown model uses six colours.
• Due to the colours the print time for the umbrella is ~7.5 hours on a modern printer. The stand will need ~2 hours.
• I used these filaments: Sunlu Silk Silver PLA, Elegoo Black PLA+, Sunlu Meta White, Bambu PLA Metal Cobalt Blue, Bambu PLA Basic Yellow, Jayo PLA Transparent Blue.
• So far I successfully made a lot of partial test prints and two complete umbrellas. But of course I cannot test every filament, every setting and every printer. If you print this umbrella please give me some feedback if the print profile and the assembly is ok for you. Maybe there is a flaw that I have not seen yet. I am always open to optimize my designs or print profiles. :)
