Description

I wanted to try my hand at a deck box for Magic: The Gathering which would fit a regular single-sleeved 100-card Commander deck as well as common extras like tokens and the precon life wheel, but with a twist: the front of the box should have space for a clear plastic display case for the commander, making it easy to recognize at a glance what deck the box contained without necessarily having to print a custom box per deck or having to write/stick something on the box.

The result is this two-piece magnet-shut box with space at the front for an Ultra Pro Mini Snap card holder and eight 4mm x 1.5mm round magnets. Since most of my decks are older Commander precons, I used the thick commander card those bundled inside the display case, but you can also just use the regular card. The card holder slots in loosely so it's easy to remove the card from it if desired.

The rest of the box is pretty straightforward. I don't have a double-sleeved deck so I don't know if it would fit, but it works perfectly fine for single-sleeved. There's also a fixed separator at the back of the box which leaves some space for tokens, the playable commander card (if you have two like I have), a life wheel, etc.

Prints without any supports and default settings. Be sure to check your printer's accuracy, the holes for the magnets are a pretty tight fit, though if one of them is loose, a small drop of cyanoacrylate glue should be more than enough to permanently fix the magnet in place.

Demo print was on a Bambu X1C with their 3D effects plate in Eryone Silk PLA.
