Description

Planet Unknown, a great board game but anyone, who dared to store the box vertically, knows very well that it doesn't like being transported and usually rewards any tilting with a full resorting of the box contents ;-) This organizer allows for proper storage of all game parts and holds the planet tiles in place so they don't tumble out of the S.U.S.A.N. anymore. The game tokens (meteors, greeneries etc.) are held in trays that can also be used during gameplay. The round-shaped corner boxes can be used to hold a little bit more material but otherwise are mainly there for structure.

Some of the files need to be printed more than once, this is indicated by a 2x/4x in the name, specifically:

  • the corner boxes and lids need to be printed 4 times
  • the greenery and meteor trays and lids need to be printed twice

Parts have been separates so they can be printed on a Prusa Mini and don't need gluing (largest part is 164.5x179.8x23mm).

Myself printed using a mix of materials:

  • transparent PETG for all lids (use something stable for sure here as this part will see the most forces; probably also an improvement-worthy click-lid design)
  • colored transparent PETG for the corner boxes
  • PLA for the tile holders (though they are very thin and might profit from some sturdier material)
  • PLA for all the trays and top floor bases (colors matching the tiles inside them)

Almost all parts can be printed without special settings, I used

  • 10-15% infill
  • 0.2mm layer height (except for the lid of the event card tray at 0.15mm as it is very thin)
  • no supports

The base plates do need supports on the outer rim as it is slightly higher than the base plate. I achieved good results by (see also picture):

  • using a 45 degrees angle for the bridging pattern
  • painting supports completely under the thin, long parts of the outer rim
  • painting a little bit of support (5-10mm) right at the corner of the groove as well as the outer edges of the groove

For packaging:

  • first place S.U.S.A.N. at the bottom of the box
  • place the corner boxes in the corners around it
  • cover all tiles with their tile holders
  • put the preexisting black plastic part with all the planets, corporations and manuals on top of this
  • put the bases A/B/C/D on top (the groove should fit on top of the groove of the black plastic)
  • fill with cards / trays / score sheets
