Description

My kids really enjoy these number puzzles, but traveling with them can be a challenge! We've tried storing the pieces in a plastic bag, but that's inconvenient, and it's easy to lose pieces. To solve this problem, I designed a number puzzle with a lid! The lid keeps all the pieces securely in place, making it easy to transport. It also doubles as a tray to hold the pieces, preventing them from getting lost while in use—perfect for restaurants!

I designed this to fit on a 220x220mm print bed. I included a file with all the numbers grouped together for easy printing, but I also added individual files for each number in case you want to get creative and print them in different colors!

The lid and numbers both have loose tolerances to make it easy for our toddler to open and place the pieces. While the lid won't stay on securely if tossed loosely into a bag, it holds everything together nicely when placed in a tight pocket. 12/28/24 UPDATE: I added a sleeve that slips over the lid and base to keep everything together better for transportation.

To achieve the multi-color effect, I simply changed the filament color before the elevated features were printed on both the board and the numbers. Since the board and lid are relatively thin with a large surface area, I printed them with a brim to prevent warping.

Print settings:

Layer height: 0.2mm

Walls: 3

Top & bottom layers: 3

Infil: 15% Gyroid

(Brim for build plate adhesion on the lid and board)
