Description
This is an insert designed to hold everything you need to play The White Castle with the Matcha Expansion. It supports premium sleeves (up to 46.2mm x 71.2mm), and has a few design elements intended to make setup slightly easier. It includes an updated meeple box with integrated grid to hold all four sets of player meeples, and holds all the bridges fully assembled. It fits all of this into the original TWC box with 2.2cm of lid lift, including one rulebook for TWC and one for Matcha. If you don't like the lid lift and would prefer a two-box storage solution, there are several options available from other designers. (I don't intend to make a two-box insert anytime soon.) Note, also, that this does not hold the original player boards, only the new Matcha player boards.
The meeple box is an updated version from my TWC V3 insert which adds the fourth (Geisha) meeples, but because of the size and shape of these new meeples, I could only make everything fit optimally by partially cutting out the side of the meeple box. To put the box on over the meeples you need to tilt the box so that the side with the cutouts goes down first, then rotate the other end of the box down until you can align it with the grid/lid and then push the parts together. It's not difficult, but it's not quite standard, either. (You can optionally rotate all the meeples 180 degrees and they will fit w/o the side cutouts but the meeples are more likely to bang together and it's more difficult to remove the warrior meeples. Check the photo to see the difference.)
The bridge box stores all four of the bridges alternating upside-right and upside-down, with the dice on top of or below their respective bridges. To store the bridges, place the upside-right bridges in first, slid towards one end of the box. Then place the five dice for each of the upside-down bridges into the slots for those, then place the upside-down bridges over the corresponding dice with the long end toward the opposite end of the box from the upside-right bridges. (The bridges actually slightly overlap in the box.) Finally, place the five dice for each of the upside-right bridges in their respective bridges.
The bridge boxes and the grid boxes are very much inspired by the designs of others, but are my own designs, not strictly remixes. In particular, I was really impressed by the organizer created by BGG user @CoLabo shown here: https://boardgamegeek.com/video/468795/white-castle/i-created-organizer-white-castle
The number of copies of a model you need to print is indicated by an "_x" suffix on the file name. If there is no "_x" suffix, then you just need one.
The boxes with lids print best at 0.16 line height (0.4 nozzle) but 0.20 is OK for everything else. You really want to use 0.16 (or lower) for the boxes with lids as there are some small but steep overhangs that are supported much better by a slightly smaller line height. (Check your slice preview.) No supports are needed if you print at 0.16 or lower.
The lids for all the boxes (except the meeple boxes) are friction fit and fit the bottom of their boxes so they don't get lost during play. The tolerances on these can be somewhat tight, but they came out beautifully on my Bambu X1C.
Finally, this is an entirely new and different insert from my previous TWC inserts so none of the old insert pieces are compatible with this new design.
Model specific notes follow:
alt_large_cards_deck_box.stl - This is slightly shorter than the large_cards_deck_box.stl box to allow for the turn_token_box.stl to fit the cutout on the player boards.
matcha_cards_deck_box_x2.stl - One of these is designed to hold the new Matcha cards (which can be taken right out of the box and placed on the expansion board without removing the cards, if you like), the other holds the Solitaire and Starting Resource (orange) cards. Feel free to print the one that holds the Matcha cards in a lovely matcha green color.
setup_box.stl - This box holds the Matcha Water Lily tiles, +40/+80/+120/+160 tiles, and the Die tiles.
small_cards_deck_box.stl - This box is meant to hold the Starting Action (yellow) and Decree (white) cards.
yard_tile_box.stl - This box holds both the Yard Tiles as well as the Matcha Ceremony tiles.
