Description

This is a turn order tray for the board game Gaia Project. The tray replaces the simple turn order card that comes with the game. The new tray provides slots for the player satellite cubes to fit into, and is not disturbed when bumped.

The tray is available as either a single piece with the Gaia planet built into it (not shown here), or as two separate pieces so that the planet can be printed in different colors and then glued onto the base tray.

The planet was superglued onto the corresponding flat space on the tray.

How I Designed This ===================

The tray was designed in Fusion 360 and exported as an .STL file into MeshMixer. A picture was taken of the turn order card included in the game, and then the picture was opened in Gimp. The central stylized numbers 1-4 in the tray were isolated, converted to black and white, and then converted to an .SVG file using Inkscape. For the planet token, the river and lake regions on the Gaia planet illustration on the card were traced over as a separate layer in Gimp and then converted to an .SVG file. Both .SVG files were imported into Fusion 360 for extrusion.
