Description
I designed this burr puzzle for the average puzzler. Sweet 16 takes 16 steps to remove the first of 7 pieces and 11 to remove the second. The second piece might be harder to remove than the first. This is a self-documenting puzzle. That is, all information to assemble it correctly is contained within the puzzle itself. No need to keep a solution guide or use a program to discover how to assemble (which would ruin the fun of learning how to solve it)
One note in solving this burr puzzle. All pieces are intended to move only in the 3 linear directions (x,y,z). It is possible to tilt the plates in ways that you can get a piece out ( this is not allowed).. but the plates should always be parallel to each other. No pieces need to be rotated in any way.
In order to assemble the puzzle, you should print one of the 2-part, bottom plate options. If you wish to screw the 2 pieces together, you require two M2.5 x 10 or 12mm screws. You can choose to screw into M2.5 x 4L x 3.5D heat inserts or directly into the plastic. Or if you just want to assemble it once, you can glue the two parts of the bottom plate together.
The video below describes the puzzle and how to interpret and use the markings on the puzzle to guide you in assembling it.
Print Instructions:
All STL files will load onto the build plate as they should be printed.
Print Plates 1 & 2 from the s16-plates123.stl and then print one of the 2-part bottom plate options. If you want to add color highlights to the top plate ….
The top plate can be printed with two different text colours by changing filaments by layer (no waste). I've included the Prusa Slicer 3MF file. If you use another slicer, you only use a color for a single layer. In my example, at the proper layer, I used one layer of gold, then on top of that one layer of red. The rest is white.
Use 0.2 layers with 3 perimeters and 4 top/bottom walls and print with PLA
I use 50% infill with the 4 pieces to give them some weight and a better feel.
I print the plates with 20% infill.
No supports are required.
