Tubby's Drive-In Model Set - 1:64 Scale

A design request came in for Tubby's Drive-In from the movie The Hollywood Knights, which is an American teen comedy movie that was released in 1980. In the movie, the main characters are part of a car club who spend a lot of their time at Tubby's Drive-In, playing pranks and making jokes, but also trying to save the drive-in from being demolished and turned into an office building.

The design of the drive-in is pretty simple with parking spots under a large roof and a small building in the center where the people can walk up and eat at the window. The roof holds two large logo signs in bright colors and light up stars. 

The 3D printed model, like our previous designs, is pretty straightforward. I added some notes below.

• The windows and doors are held in with super glue

• The Tubby's logo signs print with supports due to the design. It took a little time to pick off the supports but the supports came off clean. The signs can just sit on top of each roof and do not need glue

• The main roof over the parking spots has 3 posts holding it up. The roof is a bit heavy so I used hot glue at the bottom of the posts to keep the roof in place. I also did not use the middle post because for some reason my part did not come out completely flat, so the middle would push the roof up on one side. So you can get away with just using the 2 end posts, but I left the third one in the file in case you wanted to use it. 

• Models sliced in Bambu Studio and printed on Bambu Lab printers
