Description

This is a collapsing rose toy.

some assembly required and additional hardware needed.

  • additional hardware needed is 2 compression springs 23/64" x 1-3/8" link at bottom of instructions. I also found some at my local ace hardware that should work as well. if you use the springs from ace you might need to glue the springs to the button piece so they do not fall off during assembly this will apply to any springs used that are larger than the pegs on the part.
  • at least 1 foot of string I used nylon

this should be printable without supports

print the stem pieces with the (make overhangs printable) setting.

print the files in what ever color you desire.

Print the rose top in 5% infill or less to prevent it from being too heavy

the rest of the parts can be printed in 20% infill.

Assembly Instructions

here is the layout of the parts

            1. cut a piece of string about 12 inches long then tie a knot in the end of the string

          2. mark string at 5 ½ inches with sharpy the length might vary depending on the string u use and how u measure

         3. insert knot into the plug that was printed

           4. thread on rose top and rose stem. then tie knot at the sharpie mark made at 5 ½

           5. then tie a loop about 3 more inches from the 5 ½ in knot

           6. thread this through the top of the large base piece

         7. Place springs on the button piece of the base.

     8. then thread the string through the button piece that we just put the springs on with the springs facing into the large base piece lining up the slots in the sides with the ridges in the larger base.

        9. this is where it might take some skill put the loop we made around your pinky finger or one that works for you then push the button piece with the springs down compressing the springs revealing the knot we tied at 5 ½ inches.

       10. take the bottom knot retainer piece and slip the string into the lot until the knot slips into the recessed section. this might take some trial and error to get right.

       11. test the functionality of the toy at this point to see if any adjustments need to be made by pressing the button and releasing it and see if the rose re assembles on it own repeatedly.

if it does not and seems too loose or too tight remove the knot retainer and retie the knot to the desired length and then reinstall the retainer.

12.then trim the string that sticks past the knot.

     13. then plug with the remaining plug piece and enjoy.

finished project should look like this

link for spring kit i couldn't find the induvial springs i got them from a kit i found at harbor freight but here is the kit on amazon if you can find the springs by themselves that would be better but this kit comes with 8 of them so u can make 4 from one kit with a ton of extra springs.
