Description
I had a LEGO plane model with some warped wings and a spare spool of silver PLA, so I put it to use with custom LEGO wings based on the Airbus A320. I couldn't find any other references of someone doing this, so I might be the first to do and share it.
This project has a lot of models and they aren't pre-oriented (sorry). 3MF files are provided for intended orientations, support enforces, and quantities. All models have notes for quantities, orientations, symmetry, and other slicer overrides over 0.2mm layer heights with a 0.4mm nozzle.
For the animated parts of the wing, you need:
Warning: this model is not easy to assemble, and printing LEGO bricks is difficult due to tolerances. These models were tuned for a combination of the Prusa MINI+, Prusa MK3.5, Prusa MK4, and Prusa MK4S. Other printers might need tuning. PLA or equivalents are also required due to overhangs and managing shrinkage. Models for electronics are not provided.
Some parts are split up for printing and will need to be glued together, including:
The flaps will most likely be loose after assembly. One way they can be made to stay in place is to remove each flap, apply a small bit of glue to the clip, insert each flap and rotate it around to spread the glue, and then remove each flap to allow the glue to cure without the flap.
As tested, the model uses 0.2mm layer heights using a combination of Prusa PLA (not Prusament), Hatchbox PLA, and dikale PLA Pro.
