Description
This is a minimalist scaffold/bracket I designed to hold LED lights for the interior illumination of my build of the Borg Cube from GamBody (https://www.gambody.com/premium/borg-cube). The parts are scaled to work with the cube printed at 60% of the original scale, holding four LEDs on each of the six faces. It could hold five per face, but I found that four was enough for the light needed in my project. The LEDs I used are “Chasing Dream” fairy string lights that can be controlled by an Arduino or similar controller: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BVZLWQ2T
Assembly:
Print two of the interior LED base halves and at least one of the interior LED bracket brace and interior LED bracket connectors. Insert a piece of 1.75mm filament into the four holes in the base halves to align them. Glue the two base halves together to form the interior cube.
Glue the bracket connector to the t-junction on one of the six sides.
Finally, glue the brace bracket to the connector.
Once assembled, hot-glue the LEDs from the fairy lights into the marked indentations on each face, making sure you have enough wire to move from one side to the next to complete the cube.
The final assembled base can be glued into the center of any side of the Borg Cube to provide even lighting to the interior. In the photos below I used thin sheets of packing material as the interior diffusor for each side.
