Description
If you've ever searched for the best hot dogs in and around Chicago, you might have come across Gene & Jude's. They serve up single or double dogs with mustard, onions, relish, and sport peppers. Each hot dog comes with fries, and absolutely no ketchup (they will tell you to go somewhere else lol). I've been going to Gene & Jude's since I was a kid and the menu has stayed the same and the food has always been amazing.
A couple of people requested this model, but I was already planning on designing this model so it worked out. The building is pretty basic, just a long rectangle. The white bricks have small square accent bricks in classic red and yellow paint. The roof is angled up and holds large, light up signs with essentially their menu items and logo.
Even though the design is simple, some parts of the build max out the A1/P1/X1 build volume. The brick design on the building body comes out really nicely in the print. The signage on the roof bring the classic hot dog stand vibe.
The large building body and roof are quite large and take up almost the entire build plate of the A1/P1/X1 size. I did have some warping issues as the corners would lift up when using the standard textured PEI plate. But when I switched to the BIQU Cryogrip plate, the parts printed so much better. I highly recommend picking up that plate or the BL Cool Supertack Plate for the best quality print. I think the textured PEI plate will work but you will have to play with the settings.
I used super glue for all the windows and doors and the small colored square bricks. I also used super glue for the signs into the frames, and then used a dab of hot glue for the sign frames to the roof.
For better quality signage, print the signs at a smaller layer height (I think I printed at 0.16mm)
I used the parking lot models that are posted on my profile. Links below.
Some people have been using translucent filament for the windows on other models and they look awesome. I haven't tried it myself but planning on picking up some that filament and testing it out. I think that would look great on this model.

If you ever find yourself in Chicago, get out to Gene & Jude's (it's about 10 min. away from the airport), order a double with everything, and be prepared to eat on the hood of your car in the parking lot since there is no seating inside. Feel free to reach out with any questions. Enjoy!
