Transformers One Storage Crate

Inspired by the crates which supposedly store contaminated metals from Transformers One, here's a 3d printable version!

These are sized to approximately be 10cm cubes and are large enough for most bots to duck and hide behind! And, much like what we see on screen, a crate-holding base piece has also been provided.

To make it easier to open, a small notch has been designed into the middle parts of the lids to help lift it up. And the lids should swing open like such - making it easier to reach and store parts and accessories in there.

As a little bonus, a bunch of 5mm ports have been designed in the walls where parts and accessories can peg in. The rest may have to be strewn about on the floor of the crate. And in fact - the crate are roomy enough that you can probably even hide some of the smaller bots in there!

To allow for stacking, a variant crate with a cutout notch running along the base has been added. This variant will allow the base of the crate to clear the protruding hinger and design bits of the crate under it.

The other version of the crate simply has a flat base which should make for easier and slightly faster printing.

So there we have it - print a whole bunch of these to really help with organization or just add some visual interest for your display shelves! As a bonus, they can probably also double up as risers too!

Here's an overview of all the parts in this set. The hinge pin for the lid pins are short segments of 1.75mm filament cut to length.
