Description
This is a custom model of the armor capsules from the PSX Rockman X games. It is 100% color separated for easy assembly.
(This is a mirror to my Thingiverse upload)
Since there is no official artwork released for the capsule, some liberties were taken based on designs we do have. The SNES capsules had a symmetrical design, as did the PS2 games, so this design uses a similar symmetrical approach for the back. However, the monitor cutout is only on the front of the capsule.
To achieve the floating effect, some translucent dowel rod's are used. Some 5/32" diameter 8" long dowels I found on Etsy were used. They were a bit better for stability and supporting the weight without being too large for the design. I included a model that can be printed in lieu of purchasing a dowel.
I included two separate versions of the top most Silver Disk. One that is a little loose and another intended to snap fit. The loose one allows for quick access inside.
I designed the model with placeholders for electronics if someone chose to implement them.
It's made to scale with the other capsules in the series:

X8 Armor Capsule https://www.printables.com/model/1385770-x8ihx-armor-capsule-for-rockman-x-mega-man-kotobuk
Due to the use of support materials, some of the dimensions on certain parts had to be tweaked ever so slightly from the ideal fit in order to be inserted.
For the Capsule Bottom Front Vents (x2), the Y Dimension (height if looking at it from the front) might need to be scaled to 95%.
For the Capsule Tank Vents (x8), the Y Dimension (height if looking at it from the front) might need to be scaled to 97.5%.
I have not printed the actual Energy Stand option. It is rather large and not what I intend to use, but I did include it for anyone who wants it.
Four pieces of 4x1/2 Self Tapping Screws (or equivalent)
Four pieces of translucent acrylic 5/32" diameter 8" long dowel. Longer dowels can be used if you want a little more clearance.
OPTIONAL Two pieces of 1.1"x1.6"x0.027" thick plexiglass, or equivalent (880971 from Hobby Lobby for example)
OPTIONAL Some glue might be required
Capsule Top Assembly Order:
1.) Using the attached decal print template, print and cut out one of the images of your choosing.
--The trick to this is to open it in Microsoft Paint. Open Print Preview. Then click Page Setup. Under Scaling, select Adjust To 100%. That will print as approximately to correct as Windows is capable.
2.) Sandwich the decal between two pieces of plexiglass and gently slide it into the Monitor Insert. Verify the image is centered.
--The Monitor Insert Alt.stl part can be used if plexiglass is not used. Using this part, just print a sticker and apply it to the plastic instead. The sides of the sticker will need to be trimmed slightly, however.
3.) Push the Monitor Insert assembly into the Capsule Top.
4.) Insert the Capsule Emitter Insert piece into the Capsule Emitter piece.
5.) Connect the Capsule Emitter to the Capsule Top assembly with a screw in one corner to tack it in place, then another screw in the opposite corner before screwing it down.
6.) Tighten the two screws then install the remaining 2 screws.
7.) The remaining upper assembly can be put together in any order. It is best to save the hoses for last.
If you build one, please post a make. I would love to see how they turn out.
