Description
This is a custom model of the armor capsules from Rockman X8 on PS2, as well as from Irregular Hunter X (Maverick Hunter X) on the PSP. The model is 100% color separated for easy assembly.
This is the fourth (and for now final) display capsule project I have completed. It is made to scale with the
SNES Armor Capsule https://www.printables.com/model/1361951-snes-armor-capsule-for-rockman-x-mega-man-kotobuki
And the PSX Armor Capsule https://www.printables.com/model/1340767-psx-armor-capsule-for-rockman-x-mega-man-kotobukiy
And the X7 Armor Capsule https://www.printables.com/model/1350080-x7-armor-capsule-for-rockman-x-mega-man-kotobukiya
Four pieces of translucent acrylic 5/32" diameter 9" long dowel. Longer dowels can be used if you want a little more clearance. I could not find 9" dowels so I bought 12" and trimmed them down with some nippers. Or print the included dowel file if that works better.
OPTIONAL Some glue might help hold things together if loose
Flathead Screw Driver can be used for the included 3D printed screw
When I printed my ring, the ring was printed at 100%, but the emitter parts did not fit quite right. I scaled the R2 and R7 115% on the Z (vertical) axis. R4, on the other hand, was scaled 113% height wise, printed face down so which ever axis that works out for you (for me it was Y). I would also print these parts with organic/tree supports. They are small, thin and fragile so it makes it much easier to clean.
This is one of the armor capsules we have good art reference for, so I tried my best to duplicate it as close as possible. I fudged the scale a little and it might be a little taller, wider, thinner, I don't know, than the original model. But it's close.
This one is awkward, so I did not design it with the intention to light it up. But feel free to modify it if that is so desired.
The top emitter piece is designed to screw on (which holds the loose pieces together) for display. Just unscrew it and remove the dowels to display it closed, like in the game.
The ring brackets were printed in white on my model because that is what I had loaded. They can just as easily be printed in translucent. They are designed to swivel, so the ring can be positioned in whichever position suits you. Also, remove the ring altogether for the PSP look of the capsule.
Also note: Because the parts are a little awkward, the dowel does not recess as deep as I would like, so it's a little less stable than the previous capsules.
If you build one, please post a make. I would love to see how they turn out.
