Description
Inspired by the heavily damaged arm Optimus sported in the Skybound comics - here's our take on creating the swappable damaged limb for SS86 Optimus Prime!
Here's a quick look at a set of this, complete with a variant pair of hands - one normal and one battle-damaged. More on the assembly required for this kit below.
Similar to the earlier Megatron arm for Prime, this simply pegs into Prime's shoulder socket.
Of course, in world, we imagine that Wheeljack helped put it all in place, with a special touch of adding an I-beam which has seen better days to help balance out the missing smokestack. :P
And with it installed, Prime is slightly better for it and able to at least partake in the tough combat ahead!
Depending on the number of "wires" used and how stiff they are, we have found that the elbow articulation might be a little limited. But that's probably how damaged arms go.... maybe!
All other articulation in the shoulders and hand itself function similarly.
And, since the hand has been designed to attach into the arm using a wrist piece, there is the option to simply pop out and swap between the above-seen normal version hand and a battle-damaged hand.
Like so - a more damaged and painful-looking hand installed!

The included diagram shows the parts of this kit and how they go together.
This kit requires a little more work beyond printing of the piece - in that you will need to find some 1.75mm flexible filament or similar to simulate the wires in Prime's arm. We've use a couple lengths of old Ninjaflex filament, spray painted with different colors for this use.
And to attach the filament securely onto the points on Prime's arms and elbow pieces, we recommend a dab of superglue to really hold down the ends. For better precision and less mess, we normally prefer to have a dab of glue on a scrap cardboard so that we can just dip the end of the filament and then position them.
Here's what it looked like halfway through the process. Once we got enough in place, we started wrapping a couple more filament pieces around to add more mass to the arm.
Coming over to making the battle-damaged version of the hand - we simply took a torch to a couple of the hand piece to really get it all melty and beaten up!

And so that's one of the more involved kits in a bit. While it does take a bit of effect post-printing to get this kit assembled, we hope y'all will have fun putting it together. Happy 3d printing! =)
