Description
Danny's Pizza & Hoagies is a long-standing, family owned business in the Pittsburgh area. It has been a staple in the community for decades, serving up pizza and Pittsburgh original oven-baked hoagies. This model was requested by a MakerWorld user, so I have not personally visited Danny's but I hope one day I can.
The layout of the building is fairly simple and boxy, but there are so many small details that make this location memorable and recognizable. I love the contrast of the white, brick building and the large green roof. The large window that spans the length of the building, faces the main road creating an inviting look into the restaurant. The signage on the roof is large and clearly designed which really pops.
I started designing the brick building body with a smaller brick design at the front of the building and the larger bricks at the back. The right side of the building has the entrance area with 2 separate doors and lots of windows. The front of the building maintains the long window. The logo and signage stands out on the roof.
I used super glue to assemble the windows and doors
The signage press fit into the roof. They have a pretty tight fit so I didn't use any glue
The roof body sits on top of the building body. The roof top is press fit into the roof body
Supports are needed for the building body, roof body, and signage
AMS needed for signage and windows/doors
For the windows, I used PETG translucent and a top layer of PLA Gray for a bit of contrast. There is a chance that the PLA layer can peel off since the 2 materials typically do not stick together well. I haven't had this issue since the layer is so small and the parts are non-functional. However, if you have PETG Translucent and another PETG color like gray or black, I would recommend using the like materials together. Just make sure to change the filament settings on your printer.

Hopefully I can get out to the Pittsburgh area one day and make a stop at Danny's. For now, I'm excited to have the mini version added to my mini city. I hope you have fun printing and assembling this model. Feel free to reach out with any questions. More models are on the way so stay tuned and follow along on my Patreon for more details and sneak peeks at what is coming next. Thanks!
